Using debate moments to propel his presidential election campaign.
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — This week on Newsmakers: Rhode Island House Speaker Gordon Fox.
Just two months after the state passed sweeping pension reform, state lawmakers are back. Speaker Fox says he is focused on the high unemployment rate facing Rhode Islanders and talks about how the General Assembly is trying to put the state on a more stable footing to attract and retain employers. The Providence Democrat said he would oppose any legislation that would raise taxes on residents who make $250,000 or more, saying it would punish job-creators. Fox also weighs in on car taxes, troubled municipal pensions and the Cranston prayer banner controversy.
