EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - This week on Newsmakers: two members of Rhode Island's congressional delegation react to the tragic shootings in Newtown, Connecticut. First, Senator Jack Reed talks about the need to strengthen the nation's gun laws. He calls for eliminating the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity clips, as well as closing the so-called "gun show loophole." On the second half, Congressman Cicilline reacts to President Barack Obama's gun task force and weighs in on the controversial idea to allow armed personnel inside the nation's schools.
Note: these interviews were taped earlier in the week via satellite from Washington, D.C.
