Newsmakers 6/15: Peter Neronha

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — This week on Newsmakers: Rhode Island U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha.

For the first time since the Rhode Island State Police publicly acknowledged there is a joint state and federal investigation into the demise of 38 Studios, the state’s top federal prosecutor answers questions about the probe. While Neronha won't say much about an active investigation, he says he prefers cases to move quickly and talks about the different tools used in financial investigations. Neronha also reacts to the spike in violence in Providence and talks about ways the federal government can help in cracking down on the spate of recent shootings. Neronha also says it's only a matter of days before the U.S. Attorney General will decide whether or not Jason Pleau – accused of gunning down a gas station manager outside a bank – will face the death penalty.
