Newsmakers 6/1: Davis, Sliwinski on 38

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — This week on Newsmakers: entrepreneur and tech executive Angus Davis of Swipely and news editor for video game site Josytiq, Alexander Sliwinski.

Unless a private investor injects equity into the troubled video game company 38 Studios, Rhode Island taxpayers will be left as the owners of an unfinished game, “Project Corpernicus.” Sliwinski says the game could fetch “pennies on the dollar” because the company was forced to shed the work force that created. Davis – who was a vocal opponent of the deal in 2010 – says if the state had kept better tabs on the company officials could have auctioned off the assets at a better price months ago. Davis also talks about why it’s hard to attract and retain tech-sector jobs in the Ocean State.
