David Cicilline, formerly mayor of Providence, represents Rhode Island's First Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Cicilline was born in 1961 in the southside of Providence and later moved to Narragansett. 

He graduated from Brown University in 1983 with a degree in political science. He later graduated from Georgetown University Law Center and served as a public defender in Washington before moving back to Rhode Island.

Cicilline served in the Rhode Island General Assembly for four terms before being elected mayor of the capital city in 2002, and then elected to Congress in 2010.
