Angel Taveras attended public school in Providence and graduated from Harvard University. He earned a law degree at Georgetown University and is an attorney in private practice. Taveras ran for Congress unsuccessfully in 2000. From 2007 to 2010, he was a judge on the Providence Housing Court.
